Port Blair, May, 14: This was brought to the notice of the PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma that handicapped persons working in Govt establishments in A&N Islands are transferred far from their places. Accordingly Sharma has written a letter to the Administrator for his kind attention and immediate intervention towards the status of Physically Handicapped employees working under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. 

In his letter Sharma has written that the transfer and posting of Physically Handicapped employees working under the administration are done along with the general employees whereas, there is  standing circular No. 55-3/2007-PW dated 30th July 2007 issued by the Secretariat , A & N Administration in which it is mentioned that the Physically Handicapped employees may be given posting, as far as possible, near to their native place within the region.

Quoting the Ministry of Personal, Public Grievance & Pensions (Dept. of P&T) Government of India’s Office Memorandum No.A-B-14017/41/90-Esst (RR) dated 10.05.1990 & O.M No. A-B-14017/ 16/2002-Esst (RR) dated 13.03.2002, where it is mentioned that the transfer and posting of Physically Handicapped employees be done at their native places, Sharma has written that under the Administration several Physically Handicapped employees are working and several requests from these PH employees for transfer and posting to their native place are being received by their respective heads but most are rejected.

He thus requested the Lt Governor to consider issuing appropriate order in this regard to all the departments so that the standing circular No. 55-3/2007-PW dated 30th July 2007 issued by the Secretariat is strictly  implemented
