Port Blair, June 12:  Expressing his dissatisfaction over the drop in percentage of results of CBSE Class X & XII the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray today said that it is for the first time in the history of the islands that the Administration delayed the release of results. Moreover, I am astonished to note that the list of toppers of Class X & XII has not been made public by the Education Department.

“I have learnt that due to poor results and drop in pass percentage, the Administrator, Director of Education and leader of Congress, Kuldeep Rai Sharma decided not to release the list”, alleged the MP.

Releasing the list of AISSCE toppers to the media, prepared officially by the Directorate of Education, Bishnu Pada Ray said that in Science Stream no government school in the entire islands could compete with the private schools. Accordingly Master S. Ahmed Meeran of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) stood first, Master SK Rahul Raja of Carmel Sr. Sec. School stood second. The third position is shared by Miss Rimsha Rehman of Navy Children School stood third and Master Vivek Kumar Singh of VKV while Master Arup Saha of Carmel Sr. Sec. School bagged the fourth position and Master Manish Indal of KV II bagged the fifth position.

Further expressing his concern over the drop in percentage the MP said that the result of Model Sr. Sec. School is (– 5.11%) compared to the result of 2012.  Haddo SSS recorded a drop of (25.89%), Rabindra Bangla Vidyalaya (21.30%) etc. It is not only this said the MP adding that all govt. schools have recorded a drop in pass percentage. Overall 5146 students had appeared for AISSCE out of which 3572 passed, 1018 placed under Compartment and 556 students have failed the exam.

“In order to improve quality of education in the islands, the Administration had given a contract to an NGO from the mainland couple of years ago. It is astonishing to note that the Administration never gave an opportunity to the retired teachers of the islands who have served for decades together. And the results are before you”, he added.

LG to felicitate AISSCE Toppers: Meanwhile an announcement was made by the A&N Administration soon after the MP’s Press Conference which said, “Like in the previous years, this year also to honour the toppers of AISSCE (Class XII) for the academic year 2012-13, a felicitation ceremony will be held at Raj Niwas on June 19th 2013.
