Port Blair, April 17: The three days long Joint Coastal Security Exercise conducted in the Andaman Sea concluded today, 17th April 2014.  The exercise was controlled and coordinated from Joint Operations Centre (Coastal Security) - JOC (CS), at HQANC and conducted from Regional Coastal Security Operation Centre (A&N) - RCSOC (A&N) at CGRHQ (A&N) Port Blair.

This exercise was conducted in two phases, in the first phase officials from all agencies participated in simulated drills. The second phase was the ‘Tactical Phase’ conducted from 15th April.  During the tactical phase, live situations were simulated to assess the coordination among the various stakeholders to the developing situations.

This was the ninth such exercise conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These exercises help in revalidating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on coastal security involving many agencies and synergizing the efforts that is so essential to security.

The Central and State maritime stakeholders that participated in the Exercise were A&N Administration, A&N Police, Police Marine Police (PMF), IRBN, CISF, Customs, Fisheries Department, Forest Department, Port Management Board (PMB), Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), Director General Light House and Lightships (DGLL) and all intelligence agencies alongwith assets from Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard of Andaman and Nicobar Command.
