Port Blair, April 23: Guides play an important role in bringing satisfaction to tourists visiting the Andaman Islands in general and heritage sites in particular. The opportunity of direct interaction with the tourists makes them all more responsible for projecting the correct image of the place and giving factually correct information about the destination. There is a great requirement of trained Tourist Guides at heritage sites such as Cellular Jail, Ross and Viper Island. In view of this, the Department of Art and Culture, A&N Administration is going to conduct a “Training programme-cum-workshop for Tourist Guides” during 24th -26th April 2014 in the premises of the National Memorial Cellular Jail. Historians and experts on personality development and communication skill shall deliver lectures and interact with the participants of the workshop. About 55 participants are expected to attend the workshop.

The three-day training programme –cum -workshop for Tourists Guides being organized by the Directorate of Art and Culture, A&N Administration will be inaugurated on 24th April 2014 at 10.30 a.m by Shri Lucas Robert, Director (Art & Culture) at the National Memorial Cellular Jail.
