Port Blair, Aug. 31: On the eve of its 38th Raising Day, 23rd Battalion The Rajput Regiment of Army Component organised a blood donation camp at its location in Birchgunj Military Station on 30 Aug 2014. Mrs Anita Fernandes, w/o Major General CE Fernandes Sena Medal, Chief of Staff (COS) Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command, inaugurated the Camp.  The Camp was organised with the technical support from GB Pant Hospital with the motto “Indian Army Dedicated to the Nation and Humanity”.  Altogether a total of 150 units of blood were collected.

The camp received immense support from Andaman & Nicobar Command, voluntary blood donors and the civil administration. On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command, the COS applauded the effort and congratulated the unit on conducting such an event.  The Armed Forces are known to shed their blood for the defence of the motherland, but such events confirm the dedication of the Army towards the nation and humanity, not only in war or active hostilities but also during peace.

Brigadier Dinesh Shrivastava, Commander 108 Mountain Brigade, Surg Commodore Arvind Kumar Anand, Chief Staff Officer (Medical), Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command were also present.
