CINCAN Reviews Parade, Awards Unit Citation for Outstanding Performances

Port Blair, Oct. 8: On the occasion of 15th Raising Day of the ANC, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral Pradeep Kumar Chatterjee PVSM, AVSM, NM reviewed the parade at INS UTKROSH and awarded Unit Citations to five Units for their outstanding performance in the last one year. 

Upon arrival at INS UTKROSH, the CINCAN first reviewed the guard of honour comprising 50 men. He also inspected the parade commanded by Commander Kishor Birra of Indian Navy, in which 208 men of Army, Navy, Air Force and the Coast Guard participated.

In his address, the CINCAN congratulated all the components for the synergy displayed in operations and training, resulting in optimum utilisation of resources and achievement of desired operational efficiency.   He commended all ranks for flawless conduct of bilateral exercises with the littorals and jointness in operations, resulting in reduction in poaching activities, rescue of 24 civilians from the sea in the last one year, enhanced level of Joint training with Police and IR Battalion personnel and successful conduct of Disaster Management Exercise. The CINCAN also highlighted several activities in the last one year such as participation in outreach programmes and social welfare schemes, conduct of multi specialty medical camps in remote areas, beach cleaning and tree plantation as part of the commitment of ANC to serve the Islanders.

The CINCAN exhorted all ranks and their families to assist in nurturing and protecting the tribal culture and unique attributes of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The ceremony concluded with presentation of Unit Citation to 23 RAJPUT, INS BARATANG, INHS DHANVANTARI, 122 Helicopter Unit and ICGS KANAKLATA BARUA. 

As part of the ongoing celebrations, CINCAN also attended a Barakhana at Brichgunj on 07 Oct 2015, a traditional meal with troops and families of all components of the ANC.  The celebrations will conclude with Amphibious demonstration at Corbyn Cove beach on 11 Oct 15, being held for school children.
