Electricity Department Cautions All Concerned

Port Blair, Oct. 10: It is brought to the notice of all concerned under South Andaman District that the underground power cables laid by the Electricity department in coordination with M/s Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. are connected and charged at some of the places at Bambooflat viz. IPP Triple Pole Structure, Shore Point and Tsunami Shelter etc. The work has been carried out for the improvement of the power supply system in South Andaman area under Tsunami Rehabilitation Programme. Any attempt to dig out the soil at road side in the mentioned areas may lead to fatal accident, damages to the costly cables and unnecessary power failure in the concerned area.

All such departments, semi-private organization, private organization and general public are requested to avoid digging of the earth alongside the road and if necessary, obtain prior permission from the Electricity Department before carrying out the digging work in order to avoid the damages to Electricity underground cables which may lead to electrical accidents/electrocution of the workers engaged for digging work. The Electricity department shall not be responsible for any accident caused due to electrocution, while carrying out the digging work without the prior permission of the department and the compensation against the damages caused to the underground cables and revenue losses due to interruption of power supply shall be levied on such party.
