Diglipur, Sept. 16: The people of Diglipur have been feeling dejected as their genuine demands to improve sea transport has been falling into deaf ears. As these people are being pleading through their representatives (Pramukh and PRI members) to the administration

DARTED* (Diglipur Association of Rural Tourism and Ecological Development), has been requesting through the pradhans and public representatives in the area for daily  boat service to and fro Diglipur only during night. They also demanded that few boats touching Havelock on its to and fro journey should also touch Diglipur and mainland bound vessels sailing for Kolkata should embark and disembark passengers at Diglipur as is done in Car Nicobar.

In a communication, DATRED said that the three demands were being sent to the concerned officials through the public representatives and around six months ago a delegation of DARTED had met the Director of Shipping Services personally to place the demands. But it has been observed that the Andaman Administration has been showing a step-motherly attitude when it comes to development of their area.

“Now after all those trying with the administration, the people of Diglipur have decided to come out with their grudges to Government and plead to the Shipping Secretary who is in Port Blair. And if required to call for a ‘BANDH’ of Diglipur on Sep 25, 2012, which will be supported by all the PRI members shopkeepers, DARTED and people of Diglipur & Kalighat”, the communication added.
