Port Blair, Sept. 21: The INTUC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with a delegation of General Employees Union, Andaman Labour Force called on Chief Port Administrator (CPA), Port Management Board and discussed various long pending apart from the grievances and demands of the workers of Andaman Labour Force.

Sharma while placing the demands laid emphasis on early settlement of major issues such as filling up of 100 odd promotional and direct entry vacant posts of Mazdoors/ Winchman/ Signalman/ Head worker, etc., giving regular appointment to 18 casual workers engaged on compassionate ground and working since June1999, withdrawal of litigation by Port Management Board against 80 odd stevedores of ALF, payment of arrears accrued on incentive & night duty allowances due to implementation of Sixth Pay Commission, grant of financial up- gradation under ACP/ MACP, revision of stitching charges,  disbursement of Retirement benefits on the day of retirement & early settlement of  Pension Cases, timely issue of Form-16 & GPF account slip to the Employees with the Grade Pay of Rs.1800/-, issue of pay slip on monthly basis, timely settlement of Medical Claims, for appointment against leave vacancy preference to the incumbent listed in roaster for compassionate appointments. 

The CPA informed the Union that many issues such as filling of promotional posts, granting MACP to the overdue entitled workers, issue of Form-16, payment of stitching charges as per revised rate have either been implemented or is in the final stage of approval. He assured the Union to settle all other grievances of the workers at the earliest possible.
