Port Blair, Sept. 21: The Lt. Governor, A & N Islands Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has initiated time bound grievance redressal mechanism and its continuous monitoring system. At the directive of the Lt. Governor, it has been developed by the NIC under the caption “helpdesk@lgoffice” which can be accessed through the A&N Administration’s website www.and.nic.in. The grievances received in the portal will be uploaded on the same day in the software and will be forwarded to the departments concerned.  The department concerned will send an acknowledgement to the person lodging the grievance within two working days through the software.

The grievances have been categorised into three categories and departments have been instructed to finally dispose them within 15 days, 30 days and three months respectively. The status of the grievances will be monitored by Raj Niwas on the click of a button.  The initiative will be launched from 24th September 2012.

With this the citizens will be able to lodge their grievance online in the system from 2nd October 2012, to coincide with the Gandhi Jayanti-the birthday of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. However, action will be initiated against any person for misusing the system under Cyber Laws.

Since broadband connectivity is not available in all the areas and all the persons may not be able to lodge their grievance online, the Lt. Governor will also hold public meetings on every Tuesday from 11 AM to 12.30 PM in Raj Niwas when any person can personally meet the Lt. Governor in Raj Niwas for his/her grievances.
