Port Blair, Oct. 1: Under Reproductive Child Health (RCH-II) Programme, the Directorate of Health Services in association with the UT Health Mission of A&N Islands has organised “Village Health Nutrition Day Camp” on 29th Sept. 2012. The camp was held at Namunaghar Quarry, South Andaman.

On the occasion the Pradhan, Namunaghar welcomed the gathering. Altogether 115 participants attended and availed the services provided in the camp which included micronutrients, iron folic acid, protein supplements and in site treatment to the patients.

Dr. R. Thulasidasan, DD (FW) on the occasion spoke about the various schemes like Jannani Sishu Suraksha Karikaram, Planned Family Scheme, Janani Sishu Suraksha Yojana and various other incentives given under the Family Welfare Programme to BPL and Non BPL categories. He further informed about the objectives of VHND programme and requested the PRI members and general population to avail maximum possible facilities in the camps to be held every Saturday.

During the camp, blood testing facilities for anaemia and diabetes were made available for the needy patients.

In the camp, 92 patients including pregnant women, children, adolescent girls, senior citizens and others were examined and treated by the doctors on the spot. Patients were also provided required medicines and supplementary nutrition package free of cost.

The para-medical staff also spoke on various issues to make aware the villagers on personal hygiene, butrition, immunization and environment sanitation etc.
