Port Blair, May 2: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh today visited Dhanikari Dam and reviewed the progress of heightening of the dam. The Chief Engineer, APWD has informed the Lt Governor that construction of the dam is in the final stage and is likely to be completed within the next two months.

Aimed at mitigating the water requirements of South Andaman area for the coming several years, the scheme of raising of Dhanikari Dam by 5 meters is a landmark project taken up by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), said a release by the A&N Administration.

Murugan on 1st May 2013 released two books titled ‘What Is Admadiyyat’ and ‘Hazarath Mohammed Ka Pavitra Jeevan’, related to Ahmadiyya Community. The books have been written by Shri S. K. Mohammad Zakaria, H.A., Missionary Incharge, Ahmadiya Majid, Lamba Line.

Power supply will remain suspended in some of the areas on 04.05.2013 from 0700 hours to 1300 hours for shifting of HT poles near Airport. 

The areas to be affected by power disruption are Lamba Line, CPWD Complex, Ranchi Tekry, Minnie Bay and School Line Basti area.
