Port Blair, Dec. 28: The Andaman & Nicobar Police organized ‘Kavi-Sammelan’ on 27th December 2023 at Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters, to pay tribute to the martyrs of Tsunami.

Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS Director General of Police, ANI, graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the function and felicitated the renowned participating poets - Shri Dinesh Raghuvanshi, Dr. Sarvesh Kumar Asthana, Dr. Praveen Shukla, Dr. Soonrupa Vishal, and Dr. Hemant Pandey.

Port Blair, Dec. 28: The Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has revised Minimum Wages across 6 Schedules of employment & for DRMs working under Andaman & Nicobar Administration w.e.f. 1st January, 2024.

The A & N Administration had constituted Minimum Wages Advisory Committee on 31/05/2023. The Minimum Wages Advisory Committee submitted its Report on 05.07.2023 with the recommendation of proposed Revision of Minimum wages shall be w.e.f 1st January, 2024. In pursuance of the recommendation, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration published the draft Notification dated 25/08/2023 for revision of Minimum wages inviting suggestions/objections for a period of 60 days. The objections/suggestions received on the said proposal have been considered by the Lt. Governor (Administrator), Andaman & Nicobar Islands after which he approved the revised rates.

Port Blair, Dec. 28: The CPI (M) Port Blair Area Committee carried out door-to-door campaign and corner meetings at Dairy Farm and Ranchi Basthi areas on 27th and 28th December 2023. Various burning issues like (i) frequent power cut, (ii) sky-rocketing price rise (iii) growing unemployment, (iv) corruption, (v) non-availability of stone chips, metals, etc. were highlighted during the campaign and corner meetings.  

Port Blair, Dec. 28: Renowned Odissi Classical Dancer Vidushi Madhavi Mudgal performed at ITF today. Her performance was complemented by instrumentalists and percussionists Suresh Kumar Sethi (Vocal), Shalakha Rai (Dancer & Student of Madhavi Mudgal), Kiran Kumar(Flute), Jitendra Kumar Swain(Pakhawaj) and Yar Mohammed(Sitar). The group from Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) delighted the gathering with their graceful performance at ITF Ground here this evening.

Port Blair, Dec. 28: On 23rd December 2023, the 67th Police Constable Batch of Andaman & Nicobar Police donated an amount Rs. 60,000/- towards treatment of two girls who met with an accident at Dhanikhari. The “Seva Cops” also distributed fruits and some necessary items to victim’s family. Both sisters’ treatment is undergoing at G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair. After interaction with their mother, she replied “You people have come like God and helped our family, God bless you all”.
