Port Blair, July 12: The ex Adhyaksha ZP SA, Miss Mariyam Bibi had called upon the Deputy Director (Shipping) on 10.07.2020 in his office and discussed about the problem being faced by the users of four wheeler vehicles  to reach Port Blair for various purposes.

After lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, the four wheeler vehicles are not allowed to travel through vehicle ferry. She suggested that during peak hours i.e. in the morning and evening time, the four wheeler vehicles may also be allowed to possible extent and if required the frequency of the vehicle ferry may be increased but in other times the four wheeler vehicles may be permitted without any restrictions so that  people can travel to reach their destination by saving their time  as it take more than one hour to reach Port Blair by road and it will save some of their  money as  they have to  spent a lot of money on maintenance of their vehicle as the condition of the road is very pathetic. She requested to allow the four wheelers in vehicle ferries from Bambooflat to Chatham and vice versa.

She also requested to provide the boat service at 8.30pm from Chatham to Bambooflat so that people of Bambooflat and its adjoining areas do not face difficulties in their return journey from Port Blair to their home.
