Port Blair, July 26: On receipt of information that a party is being organized at Hotel TSG Emerald, Phoenix Bay with a large gathering and violating national directives, a raid was conducted by the team of PS Aberdeen in the hall situated at third floor of TSG Emerald. It was found that in the party hall a total 91 persons including ladies and children gathered to witness the formation of a new committee of LIONS Club, Port Blair and for distribution of cold mortuary boxes and masks.

On enquiry, it was revealed that the President of Lions Club, Shri. M.P Shaktivel, had organized this gathering in violation of all the national directives issued by GOI and A&N Administration. The manager of the Hotel, Shri. S. Murgan was also interrogated and he also accepted his guilt.

Accordingly, all 23 members of Lion Club, Port Blair including Zonal Chairperson, Shri S. Subramanian S/o late Sandaiha (64) yrs, owner of Rajeshwari Jewellery, R/o Mazar Pahad, District Chairperson, Shri G Somasundaram S/o Late Govindan (54)yrs, owner of Sundaram Traders R/o Nayagaon, District Chairperson, Shri S. Karuppusamy S/o Late Subaiah (56)yrs, Owner of Uma store R/o Protrapur alongwith the manager of Hotel TSG Emerald, Phoenix Bay were arrested at 1330 hrs for committing offence U/s 51 DM Act, 2005 r.w.s 188/269/270/34 IPC.

The general public is requested to avoid such gathering and share/pass on information to Police in full confidence so that spread of COVID-19 may be contained and prevented.
