Port Blair, Aug 28: To restrict the spread of COVID-19, Port Blair Municipal Council continued its efforts by deploying its dedicated team. The waste including bio wastes are collected from Quarantine Homes, Guest House, Market places and public places of entire Municipal wards.
Today deployed dedicated staffs with protective gears collected wastes from Horn Bill Nest, Haddo Circuit House, South Point Circuit House, Zilla Niwas, Pillar Hospital, Transit Accommodation and ITI Dollygunj and carried to the incinerator of the G.B.Pant Hospital for final disposal.
The Municipal Council also dedicatedly sanitizes the Municipal area in regular interval. Friday the areas sanitized are ITI Dollygunj, Dairy Farm, Sea Shore Road Ward No. 14, Round Basti, Ward No. 04 and Aberdeen Bazaar, Ward No. 05.
Dead Bodies are cremated at cremation ground with proper care following the guidelines. Sanitized vehicles are used to transport these bodies to cremation ground.
Besides sanitation and water supply, PBMC is also trying to restore its other normal works during this Unlock down period. Different sections have started developmental works like plastic shredding for road work, construction of road works, construction of drainage and retaining walls.
PBMC’s revenue counter has started functioning for receiving of dues like market rents, water charges, property taxes and other charges also.
PBMC appeals to the citizens of Port Blair City to follow the guidelines issued by the A&N Administration in true spirit to be safe from the spread of pandemic.
