Port Blair, Sept. 7: As a part of awareness campaign to contain COVID-19 post unlock-4, an inspection-cum-mask distribution was carried out by the Dy. Commissioner (South Andaman), Shri Suneel Anchipaka along with SDM (SA), AC (U/T), Civic society organisations, ACCI in the densely populated areas of Junglighat Fishermen Colony and the Dairy Farm areas.
During the inspection, the DCSA along with the ACCI and local community volunteers distributed masks to the general public. As a part of reaching out to the public, mask distribution was carried out from door to door in the residents of Junglighat area. In the peak evening time, an awareness programme was conducted from Machi Basti to Tirupati Mandir area by involving community representatives.
The DCSA also interacted with the fishermen families, street vendors, barbers, vegetable shopkeepers among others and appealed to one and all not to panic but fight against COVID-19 pandemic followed by the golden principle of wearing masks properly and maintaining social distancing.
In Dairy Farm Ganesh Mandir area, it was observed that the shopkeepers were adhering to the COVID-19 protocols. Masks were distributed to the needy people, while the officials interacted with the elected representatives of the area and appealed to follow the protocols.
The District Administration of South Andaman is reaching out to the door steps of the people to deliver services and to ensure safety.
