Port Blair, Sept. 15: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Shri.N.K.Udhaya Kumar in the presence of Smti. Anjali Sehrawat, IAS, Secretary, PBMC laid foundation stone for construction of Multipurpose Stage at Nayagaon Ward No-12.
At the outset Shri. S.N.N. Gregory, Councillior Ward No-12 welcomed the dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion the Chairperson stated that the Multipurpose stage will be constructed within a stipulated time frame at an estimated cost of Rs. 9,82,713/- and it will cater the needs of the local populace of the area. It was the demand of the local populace since long for construction of a Multipurpose stage in the area.
At another function held at Ward No-15, Udhaya Kumar inaugurated the newly constructed Playground and Pavilion at Vivekananda Nagar Palika Vidyalaya, situated at Ranchi Tekeri, Dairy Farm Ward No-15. The Ward Councilor, Shri. C.H. Babu welcomed the Chairperson, Secretary and Officials of the Council.
The Chairperson on the occasion informed that the Council in the past few years has come up with new innovative ideas like construction of Open Air Gyms, Badminton Courts Volley Court etc. in the vicinity of many wards and is proven successful. The ground cum pavilion is also an asset to the Council. The Civic Chief further exhorted that under Kelo India Kelo initiative of the Government of India the Council will carry on such works in future as well.
