Port Blair, Sept. 18: The first loan in Port Blair under Deen Dayal Antodya Yojana- National Urban Livelihood (DAY-NULM) was disbursed to Shri. Kaja Moideen on 18/09/2020. Shri. Kaja Moideen is a tailor running a shop near Kamaraj English Medium School, Aberdeen Bazar. He was handed the loan sanction letter for an amount of Rs. 1.8 lakhs in a small function held at PBMC by Smti. Anjali Sehrawat IAS, Secretary, PBMC and senior officials of the SBI, Shri. Satya Priyadarshi, Regional Manager, Shri. Manoj Kumar Lakra, Chief Manager, SBI, Port Blair Branch & Shri Dimaba Sandel, SME.
Deendayal Antodya Yojana- DAY- (NULM) scheme aims at reduction of poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them access to self-employment resulting in improvement in their livelihood on sustainable basis.
Under SEP component of the scheme, financial assistance with interest subvention is provided to Individuals/groups and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) including street vendors/hawkers for setting up gainful self-employment ventures /micro enterprises, suited to their skills training, aptitude and local conditions. Under this scheme a loan amount of up to Rs. 2.00 Lakh for an individual and up to Rs. 5.00 Lakh for SHGs can be availed. The interest subvention under the scheme is approx. 5% Women and SHGs are entitled for further interest subvention of 3%.
