Port Blair, Sept. 20: The District Administration South Andaman has taken all possible efforts to identify the encroachments happening during COVID-19 Pandemic. Strict enforcement drive is on to evict the same. As a result, an area of 94950 sqmts of Government Land has been restored into Govt. Khata in the last one month.
During the period of 30 days, the revenue department has removed encroachments committed over government land in the shape of temporary structures, fencing and saplings in various villages of South Andaman District viz. Little Andaman, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Garacharma, Brookshabad, South Point, School Line, Bambooflat, Badmashpahar, Humphrygunj, Stewartgunj, Mithakhari, Muslim Basti and Tushnabad.
During the past one month, the Tehsil Office, Port Blair conducted eviction drives and removed encroachments in the shape of temporary sheds and fencing and have restored 53750 sqmts. Similarly the Tehsil Office, Ferrargunj has also removed encroachments and restored an area of 33900 sqmts. Further the Tehsil Office, Little Andaman conducted eviction drives at HutBay and RK Pur villages and have restored an area of 7300 sqmts to the Govt. Khata.
The Revenue Department is leaving no stones unturned to stop people from encroaching government land. In spite of cautioning, some people are in the habit of encroaching government land. The General Public is hereby cautioned to refrain from such encroachments and unauthorized activities, as strict actions will be taken against them under relevant rules.
