Port Blair, Sept. 23: To take first hand stock of the ground situation and arrangements required to be made for preparing COVID Care Centres and to ensure preparedness in the fight against COVID-19 in the inter islands, the Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Suneel Anchipaka along with the SDM (SA) and the AC (U/T) visited Little Andaman Island today.
The team interacted with the ZP members, pramukh (Samiti), Pradhans of the respective areas, Tribal Captain (Harminder Bay) and other community representatives and discussed the situation on ground. The DC also appealed for the support of the PRIs in the fight against the pandemic.
The team also visited the Primary Health Centres at Hutbay and RK Pur and the Sub Centre at Harminder Bay. During the visit to PHCs, over 200 COVID medicine kits were handed over to tackle the pandemic, which is in addition to the gloves, masks, PPE kits and oximeters which were sent to the PHC last week.
Locations for setting up of COVID Care Centre was recognized and the team also identified boundaries of the declared Containment Zones. The DCSA discussed various developmental issues of the island with the PRIs during the interaction.
It was assured by the DCSA that the District Administration is fully committed in the fight against the pandemic in the inter islands and would provide all necessary assistance in this regard.
