Port Blair, Oct. 27: In continuation with the on-going Police Flag Day commemorative events, on 24/10/2020, A & N Traffic Police had organised an awareness programme on importance of road safety & prevention and containment of spread of COVID-19 for auto drivers/owners. The meeting was chaired by Shri. Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS (Dy.SP Traffic).
At the outset, significance of Police Flag Day & Evolution, impact, prevention/precaution of COVID-19 was elaborated to all the attendees by Shri. Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS (Dy.SP Traffic). Auto drivers were directed to follow all the SOPs & guidelines/directions issued by A & N while plying their autos. Auto drivers/owners were requested to put forth their grievances & resolutions were also provided to their grievances by Dy.SP Traffic. Later, face masks were also distributed to the auto drivers/owners by Dy.SP Traffic.
In addition, an awareness programme with Bus drivers/conductor was also conducted on 26/10/2020 and was chaired by Shri. Arjun Prasad, Inspector Traffic. At the outset, significance of Police Flag Day & Evolution, impact, prevention/precaution of COVID-19 was also elaborated to all the attendees. Bus conductors were directed to screen body temperature by thermal scanners & sanitize the hands of all the passengers before allowing them to board the bus & also to ensure that all the passengers should wear face masks. Bus drivers were also directed to stop their buses only in the earmarked bus boxes and to refrain from the use of pressure horns. Bus drivers/conductors were also requested to put forth their grievances & resolutions were also provided to their grievances by Inspector Traffic.
In order to follow physical distancing about only 50 participants each were invited in both the meetings.
All the norms and guidelines/directions issued by MHA & A & N Administration related to prevention and containment of spread of COVID-19 was followed during both the awareness programmes.
