MP Requests Secretary Social Welfare for Enrolment Without Further Delay
Port Blair, Oct. 30: Around 1500 people from North & Middle Andaman District have applied for enrolment in the Social Welfare department to get Widow/Old Age Pension, Destitute and Divyangan allowances. The applications have been kept pending in the department since November 2019. There are many more such cases in the South Andaman and Nicobar Districts respectively which are also pending in the department for enrolment.
Taking up the issue with the Secretary (Social Welfare), A&N Administration, the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma informed that due to delay in enrolment, the deserving persons are finding it difficult to fetch their daily bread, especially in the wake of COVID-19. In order to provide financial assistance to these persons, the MP requested the Secretary (SW) to expedite the enrolment of all the cases pending since November, 2019 and help them survive.
