Eco Club and Nature Club of Kendriya Vidyalaya Comes Up with Water Reservoir in its Campus
Port Blair, Nov. 9: As part of the “Catch the Rain Campaign”, a water conservation initiative was started by the Eco-Club and Nature Club of Kendriya Vidyalaya supported by the District Administration. The first glimpses of the success of the project has been witnessed with the construction of a huge reservoir developed within the School Campus.
This initiative taken up by the School has been possible due to the sheer dedication of the students and teachers of the School and it would also inculcate the culture of water conservation among the school going students right from the childhood, which would benefit them in future also. Adopting water sustainability in schools is basically focused on water conservation/preservation, water collection, and water recycling.
Schools use large quantities of water everyday, whereas they need water in many areas within and outside the school such as, the heating and cooling systems, toilets, drinking and taps, cafeteria, laboratories, outdoor playing areas, landscaping. In addition to the awareness and the educational aspects provided by the school in support of sustainability, it is important to promote the management of sustainable water within schools, because of the planned school construction program and the pivotal role played by schools in our community to motivate students regarding water conservation in the growth phase.
The District Administration appreciates the efforts of the students and teachers of the School in this accomplishment of such an achievement and has again assured all kind of technical help required by the school management in its future ventures.
