Port Blair, Jan 17: As part of Police Raising Week from 16th to 23rd January, 2021, South Andaman District Police organized a motor cycle rally on 17/01/2021 at 1030 hrs. The rally started and culminated at Cellular Jail, Port Blair covering Marina Park, Flag Point & Clock Tower. A total of 30 motorcycle riders from police department participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off by Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

The rally was followed by a felicitation program for Corona warriors at 1100 hrs at Cellular Jail, Port Blair, which was graced by Shri Shivendra Kant Tewari, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Armed Police/Special Armed Police) as the Chief Guest. He felicitated the COVID warriors who have done extraordinary work during COVID lockdown. During the event, 36 COVID warriors from various walks of life were felicitated. These not only included Doctors and Healthcare workers but also Sanitation workers, Organizations and general public.

While Andaman Nicobar Police has done a tremendous job in implementation of lockdown, it is the contribution of such dedicated people which has helped everyone overcome the tough times. Shri Shivendra Kant Tewari, IPS lauded the efforts of each and every person who has contributed to the society positively during the COVID times. While expressing grief over the people who lost to COVID battle, he expressed solidarity with their families in helping them overcoming their pain. As the battle is not yet over, he appealed to everyone to observe caution and follow the three golden rules for COVID prevention i.e., Hand sanitation, Face mask and Social distancing.

These programs were organized by Superintendent of Police, South Andaman as part of ongoing Police week which is being celebrated by the Police department from 16th Jan–23rd Jan, 2021.
