Port Blair, Jan 22: On the occasion of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, we remember the colossal contribution of Netaji made to the development of our country through his vision and actions. Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma pays homage to a towering personality like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who had a great impact in the freedom struggle and was revered by the entire world for his leadership and organizational skills.
Netaji Subash Chandra Bose was one of the leading fighters who gave up everything he had for the greater cause of Independence. Inspired by socialist ideologies and CR Das, Neta Ji played an important role in raising awareness in European and South Asian countries using his political, leadership and diplomatic skills.
He was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress in 1938 and 1939 and set up the National Planning Committee for social reforms in 1938. He organised the Indian National Army which revealed his greatness as a military leader and organiser. He also set up the provisional Government of Azad Hind. The role of INA had far reaching influences in the Indian independence movement. The tales of remarkable courage and sacrifice sent a wave of revolutionary upsurge.
The people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands take pride in the fact that the islands were the Karm-Bhoomi for Neta Ji and were administered by the Provisional Government of Azad Hind during World War II. On December 29, 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose arrived in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, for a three-day visit. During the visit, he hoisted the Indian Tricolour at the Gymkhana Ground in Port Blair.
The Government of India has also honored the importance of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the journey of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by renaming Ross Island as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep; the Neil Island as Shaheed Dweep; and the Havelock Island as Swaraj Dweep.
The journey of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is a torch bearer for every section of the society and his multi-faceted, multi directional holistic efforts, sacrifices and ideologies continue to guide us towards striving for the progress of our country.
