Port Blair, Feb. 1: Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY), Port Blair, which undertakes repairs and refits of Naval warship, yardcraft and floating docks, concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Govt ITI, Port Blair for providing Industrial Exposure Trade Training Programme for trainees of various ITI trades. This is in Pursuance of the National Apprentice Ships Promotion Scheme.
The MoU was signed between Cmde Iqbal Singh Grewal, Commodore Superintendent of yard and Andaman and Nicobar Administration represented by shri Krishan Kumar, IAS Secretary (Labour Employment and Training), Shri CH Venktesh, Principal Govt ITI, Port Blair.
The MoU aims to provide experience of working in large technical support industrial establishment of the Indian Navy to the young local ITI trainees. This would enable these young local trainees to understand the practical significance of skillset required in the respective trade and develop keenness towards joining the defence industrial establishments. This training will also offer opportunity with various firms providing services to NSRY (Pbr).
The first batch of 30 trainee successfully completed training from 04 to 29 Jan 2021. The initiative also aids the local industries to recruit better trained students in future.
