Port Blair, Feb 10: It is observed that several cable television operators have tied their cable TV wires/cables to electricity poles of the Electricity Department unauthorisedly. Knotting the cables to electricity poles unauthorisely / improperly, not only is violating Indian Electricity Rules, but also compromising on safety and the danger to life on account of the haphazard pulling of wires over electric poles. The cable TV wires/cables are also being tied on the electricity poles causing hindrance to the staff in carrying out the work on electric poles. Moreover, any accident can occur to the cable TV operators who are not authorized to climb the electric poles.
The Electricity Department, A&N Administration has issued a warning to all such persons/firms indulged in such illegal use of electric poles. They have been advised to remove all such boards, banners and cable T.V. (Cables) etc. with immediate effect; else any loss of life or appliances, equipment etc. will not be responsibility of Electricity Department. A legal action would also be initiated against the persons/firms found using the electric poles unathorisedly, a communication said here.
