Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination to be Administered from 13th Feb

Port Blair, Feb 10: The State Steering Committee meeting on COVID19 vaccination was held under the chairman of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Chetan B Sanghi, IAS in the conference hall of the Secretariat on 09.02.2021. The meeting was also attended by Shri. Jitendra Narain, IAS, Principal Secretary (Home), Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS Principal Secretary (Finance), Dr. V Candavelou, IAS, Commissioner Cum Secretary (Health), Shri S.K. Jain IPS, IGP (Headquarter), other secretaries of A&N Administration, Officials of Health Dept and representative from ANC.

The meeting aimed at to assess the present situation of COIVD19 vaccination in these islands and the future plan of action. It was informed that A&N Islands has completed more than 74% of vaccination as on date. It was decided to cover maximum Health Care Workers for vaccination in the coming week. There was no complication observed after the vaccination in these islands.

The second dose of COVID19 vaccination for the Health Care Workers’ will be administered by 13.02.2021. The Frontline workers will be vaccinated soon who are about 10170 in number across these islands for which necessary arrangements been made awaiting vaccine consignment.

The Chief Secretary desired that the defence may be facilitated for their vaccination process if needed. He also directed that the data for Frontline Workers must be cross verified for duplication of data by the respective districts and to augment the vaccination process as soon as the vaccine consignment is received. He also directed that the contact tracing must be enhanced for all the new positive cases so that the transmission can be halted.
