Port Blair, April 5: Skill Development is a key to improve employability and income earning opportunities for women and for enhancing sustainable rural development and livelihood. This was said by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands while inaugurating a three month duration Skill Development Training on ‘Tailoring and Fashion Designing’ organized by him at Sundar Colony, Haddo on 3rd April 2021. He said Skill is the bridge between job and workforce but majority of our female workforce is unskilled. Further, the Member of Parliament said, women economic participation and empowerment are fundamental to strengthening women’s rights and enabling them to have control over their lives.

The Member of Parliament further said that economic empowerment of women’s is a pre-requisite for sustainable development. He said, Skilling and up skilling of women is very important to boost their confidence and help them to take up income generation activities for livelihood and become independent. He offered all possible support and help for their endeavour in future.

Over 100 ladies of Sundar Colony Haddo registered their name to undergo this three month duration training organized by Member of Parliament. Among others attended and spoke in the inaugural function include Smti Leela Vargheses, Dy. Director (Rtd) Education, Mrs. Sabiha Mulla, Founder Director, APT Logistic. Earlier the training Centre was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon followed by lighting the traditional lamp by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with other guests. The participant trainees (women) appreciated and thanked Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma for organizing such an important Skill Development training for the benefit of Women’s of Sunder Colony free of cost. Similar program were conducted in different places in which hundreds of poor women got the benefit and earning for their livelihood. They also desired to have more training in the field of computer and Beautician course.

Earlier Shri Suresh Babu welcomed the guests and participants. The function was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri P G Paul. Entire program was coordinated by Ms. Nandini.
