Port Blair, May 9: In a view to contain Covid-19, South Andaman district administration has declared containment zones as per the guidelines issued by Government of India. Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) along with SDM(SA), AC(HQ), AC(S), AC(L) and AC(U/T) visited the containment zones at Lillypur at Haddo, Dairyfarm and Old Pahargaon.

During the visits at the above places, the DC (SA) took stock of the arrangements being made by the officials of various departments engaged in managing the zone. He asked the officials to ensure that there is no movement of persons out of the zone so as to contain the spread of the virus except for medical emergency.

The DC(SA) along with other officials distributed ration kits to the labourers in the containment zone at Old Pahargaon as an immediate relief to the daily wage earners. Each kit comprised of Rice, Atta, Dal, Onion, Potato, and Oil.

The DC(SA) has appealed to public to follow all the restrictions imposed in the containment zones. He further urged the people to follow COIVD appropriate behaviour and also sought their cooperation in the fight against the pandemic. The DC(SA) reiterated that all-out measures will be taken for strict enforcement of the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.
