Port Blair, May 30: Continuing with the preparedness for fighting COVID -19, the South Andaman District Administration has initiated various measures to enforce Covid restrictions at all places and for management of COVID Care Centres.
In this regard to boost the medical requirements, 150 oxygen concentrators have been received on 29th May 2021. Distribution of vegetables was carried out for the needy and poor at Brindavan. Officers of District Administration visited the Covid Care Center at Wimberlygunj to assess the situation.
With the strenuous efforts of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, 150 Oxygen concentrators have been donated for the benefit of people of these islands by M/s TCI Seaways Limited and the same was received by Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA), SDM(SA) and AC (U/T) on behalf of the Administration. The same has been handed over to the medical authorities for proper utilisation in the treatment of COVID patients requiring oxygen support.
The DC(SA), SDM(SA) and the AC(U/T) participated in distribution of vegetables, including onion and potatoes to the poor and needy persons at Brindavan village, which was organised by the social workers of the area for providing relief to these people. The DC(SA) urged other Civil Society Organisations to take lead and come forward to help the needy persons.
The team then visited the Covid Care Centre at Wimberlygunj to assess the present condition. The DC(SA) interacted with the doctor, paramedics and support staff posted there and also inquired about the well-being of the patients and the issues faced by them. He appreciated the overall arrangements being put in place in the Centre for the welfare of the patients and was also satisfied with the coordinated efforts of doctors and medical staff in carrying out such tremendous work for the patients.
The DC(SA) sought the cooperation of public in fighting the pandemic and also urged them to stay at home and to follow the lockdown in letter and spirit.
