Reason for Increasing Deaths in the Islands is Due to Delay in Reporting Symptoms, Say Doctors
Port Blair, May 30: The State President, BJP, Shri. Ajoy Bairagi and Shri, Uday Shankar Singh, State Media Convener, BJP visited G.B Pant Hospital, Port Blair and inspected various COVID wards, suspect COVID ward and other facilities at the hospital. They also visited the COVID ICU during their visit.
During their visit, they interacted with patients in COVID wards and enquired the problems faced. The patients gave a positive feedback on their treatment at G.B Pant Hospital.
They also inspected the food being served to the patients and other facilities provided. All facilities and food were found to be excellent. It was also gathered that there is no shortage of oxygen in the hospital.
The two of them later interacted with the doctors and enquired the reason for the increase in death in the Islands due to COVID-19. The doctors informed that the patients in the Islands are not seeking medical help on time and are only contacting the health authorities or visiting the hospital when their oxygen saturation falls and they have difficulty in breathing.
The doctors informed that the patients should contact the health authorities as soon as they feel they have any symptoms of COVID-19 so that their treatment can be started early to avoid any complications. Hiding the symptoms of COVID-19 or self-treating at home without informing the health authorities and the administration on time will lead to serious complications at later stage.
Bairagi has appealed to the islanders to report any symptoms of COVID-19 to the district administration helpline numbers or to the health authorities so that they can start their treatment early.
The State President, BJP lauds the efforts of the doctors, nurses, paramedics, ward boys, safai karamcharis, aayas and every staff of the health department who are working day and night to provide services to the Islanders during this time of the pandemic. He has also lauded the Director of Health Services and the Administration for managing the pandemic well and providing all facilities to the COVID-19 patients.
