Port Blair, Nov. 26: The District Child Protection Unit (SA) under District Administration organised an Awareness Campaign on Divyangjan at Beodnabad Panchayat commemorating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness of different types of disabilities and how they impact lives of Divyangjan.

Shri Jeo Paul, Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology and In Charge of Composite Regional Centre, Brookshabad was the Resource Person for the programme. In his address, he explained in brief about the 21 different types of disabilities under RPWD Act. The gathering was sensitized on the functions of Composite Regional Centre rendering services of Rehabilitation, Skill development and Empowerment through various means.

All the participants were encouraged to disseminate the information to the general public so that the needy people may access the Services of CRC, Brookshabad.

The District Administration ensures to conduct such awareness on Divyangjan so as to educate the society to treat them equally without any discrimination.
