Port Blair, Jan 18: Under the flagship programme ‘Digital India’ of GoI, the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, A&N Administration has successfully eased the process of paying the Pre Matric and Post Matric scholarships digitally to ST students offered by the GoI. Through digital mode, an amount of Rs. 8,49,250/- has been paid to 282 ST students under Pre Matric and Rs. 11,05,100/- to 309 ST students under Post Matric Scholarship for the academic year 2020-21. The complete process of disbursement of scholarship has been done online starting from registration in National Scholarship Portal (NSP) to disbursement of payment directly to the bank account of beneficiary through Public Financial Management System (PFMS).  

Meanwhile, the online registration in the NSP for the academic year 2021-22 is underway. The last date for registration has been extended till 20.01.2022. In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and closure of the schools/colleges, the Govt of India will be requested to further extend the date of registration for the benefit of ST students of these Islands.

A special helpdesk has been set up by the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, A&N Administration to help the ST students to register in the NSP portal. All colleges/ schools have designated a Nodal Officer to extend help to the ST students for registration in the NSP.
