Port Blair, May 10: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) today inaugurated two POL Retail Outlets set up by ANIIDCO virtually from Raj Niwas. The inaugural function was attended by the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, Adhyaksha, ZPSA, Smti. Pramila Kumari, Chairperson PBMC, Smt. U. Kavitha, DGP, Shri Neeraj Thakur Senior Officers of A&N Administration and DGM (RS) IOCL Kolkata, Shri Tahseen Rayaz. 

The POL Retail Outlets have been established by the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) one each at Kanchangadh (Baratang) and Uttara (Kadamtala). With the inauguration of these two outlets, the A&N Administration has fulfilled the aspirations of the people residing in remote areas besides providing relief to the vehicle users as well as commuters passing through NH-4. This will also boost the economic growth of the region. 

The inaugural function was also live streamed in the conference hall of Secretariat, Port Blair, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman District and Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Rangat.

In his welcome address, the Executive Director (POL), ANIIDCO, Shri Suneel Anchipaka said that the inauguration of the Outlets by the Lt. Governor is a historic moment as it will benefit the people of Baratang and Kadamtala and the commuters using NH-4. He said, ANIIDCO is engaged in the integrated development of various sectors in A&N Islands. It also ensures the supply of petroleum products like petrol, diesel and lubricants in co-ordination with IOCL at various parts of A&N Islands. The Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) has completed the construction work of these ‘Outlets’ in 1 year and four months’ time despite COVID challenges.

Proposing the vote of thanks, the Managing Director, ANIIDCO, Shri Santosh D. Vaidya expressed his sincere gratitude to the Lt. Governor for gracing the occasion. With the inauguration of these Outlets, ANIIDCO has extended its network of Retail Outlets from 11 to 13 and made available the petroleum products in between the stretch of Sippighat to Rangat, thus eliminating the daily struggle of the residents of the area and the commuters passing through NH-4.
