Port Blair, May 19: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to schedule a ship for Chennai via Nancowry and Campbell Bay, so that people who are planning to visit Chennai directly from Nancowry and Campbell Bay can avail the sailing.

Similarly, he has also requested to schedule similar sailing, back to Port Blair from Chennai via Campbell Bay and Nancowry so that the Islanders can return back to their respective Islands before reopening of School after Summer Vacation.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament mentioned that before COVID-19 there was a practice of scheduling a Ship for Chennai via Nancowry and Campbell Bay so that during the summer vacation people from these Islands can directly reach Chennai, instead of coming all the way to Port Blair and availing a ship from Port Blair.

He pointed out that such sailing was not only convenient for Islanders but was also economical for the Islanders of Nancowry Group of Islands and Great Nicobar.

The Member of Parliament added that there was also a practice to schedule similar sailing back to Port Blair from Chennai via Campbell Bay and Nancowry, so that people can return back to their respective place before reopening of schools.

He mentioned that since the last two years such sailing was not scheduled during summer vacations because of COVID-19 pandemic.
