Port Blair, June 23: Former State President BJP, Shri Vishal Jolly has written a letter to the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Highways, Roadways & Civil Aviation Government of India Considering the extreme urgency involved in the matter related to fishermen.

In his letter he mentioned that he has been approached by a large number of fishermen who have informed me that the air cargo operation for transporting the daily chilled fish from air cargo to Flights has been stopped since 17th May 2022, due to which they are suffering immensely. By this time, they have already suffered heavy loss and damage, as the fishes are perishable items.

He stated that the Airport authority has informed that the only agency which is authorized for transporting the daily chilled fish from air cargo to Flights has been stopped due to non-clearance of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. It has been informed by the fishermen community that the papers for clearance are pending since long due to which the entire fishermen community is suffering heavy loss and the people of these Islands are also facing crisis.

Jolly requested the Union Minister to direct the concerned authority to intervene into this issue and pass necessary instructions/directions to either make some alternative arrangements and start the cargo operations for loading the chilled fishes to the flights OR to permit the authorized agency to operate pending the clearance of papers from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
