Port Blair, June 24: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of A&N Administration to provide free mini bus service or trolleys for passengers between Main Gate and Security Check Gate of Marine Jetty.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that everyday thousands of people commute through Marine Jetty to different Islands and similarly thousands other enter Port Blair from the same Port.

He added that due to lack of any transport for the public between the Security Check Gate and the Marine Gate, passengers have to carry their luggage and walk all the way to the ferry.

The Member of Parliament added that the worst sufferers are old age people, patients and ladies, who travel alone because for them it becomes too difficult to carry luggage and walk such long distances.

He said that often tourists also can be seen struggling with their all luggage to reach the ferry for Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep at Marine Jetty.

The Member of Parliament pointed out that a few years back there was an arrangement to provide free bus service for passengers from Marine Gate to the Security check gate, which was very helpful for the public and hence Islanders are demanding a similar facility at the port.
