Port Blair, June 27: An event was organised by Andaman and Nicobar Islands Sea Food Exporters Association on 25th June at Dairy Farm to felicitate Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP and Former State President BJP for taking up their burning demand for air cargo operation to transport the daily chilled fish from air cargo. The transportation was stopped since 17th May 2022.
Upon the intervention of Jolly with the *Union Minister Dr. General (Retd.) V. K. Singh and with help of Station Director, Port Blair Airport, the matter has been resolved and full-fledged air cargo operation for transporting the chilled fish has been restored.
During the interaction, the following demands were raised by the fishermen community:
Fixing ice block rates so that fishermen get the ice block at affordable rates.
Providing clean and safe space to the sea food exporters for packing and despatching the consignment effectively.
Construction of a 50-100 Ton capacity ice plant for the betterment of the fishermen community.
Shri Vishal Jolly assured that all issues raised by the fishermen community will be taken with appropriate authority for redressal.
