Port Blair, June 28: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma on Tuesday inaugurated an Open Hall with a Small Office Room and Toilet at Dhobi Ghat, Prem Nagar, Port Blair in presence of Mrs. Amar Devi, Councillor Ward Number 07, PBMC.

The Open Hall with Small Office Room and Toilet at Dhobi Ghat has been constructed under MPLAD fund following demands of people of the area.

The Executive Engineer of PBMC, Shri. A K Paul, Executive Engineer of PBND, APWD, Mrs. K Anita Kumari, Members Andaman & Nicobar Washerman Community, other prominent citizens of Port Blair city and a large number of the general public of the area were present on the occasion.

During the programme, the Executive Engineer of PBND, APWD, Mrs. K Anita Kumari spoke about the technicality of the work. She said that the cost of the project was Rs. 29,72,107 and the date of commencement of the work was 04.12.2020.

Addressing the gathering Mr. M K Rao, Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Washerman Community appreciated the efforts of the Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma for allotting funds under MPLADS for this project, considering the demands of people of the area.

The Member of Parliament in his address expressed his joy on completion of the project, which has fulfilled the long pending demands of the area. He hoped that the asset created under MPLADS will immensely benefit the people of the region.

Mrs. Shanta Lakhman Singh, ex-Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) also spoke on this occasion. Mr. K Ganeshan, ex-Chairperson, PBMC, Mr. PB Murugan, ex-Chairperson PBMC and Mrs. Zubaida Begum, ex-Chairperson PBMC were among others who attended the programme.
