Port Blair, Aug 10: Communist Party of India (Marxist), Andaman and Nicobar State Organising Committee has organized a Seminar on “Role of Communists in Freedom Struggle” today (10.08.2022) evening at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair. Inaugurating the Seminar, Shri KG Das, former Secretary of the CPI (M) State Organising Committee said that Communists and other revolutionaries in the country had played an important role in the freedom struggle of the country.  

Shri P. Banerjee, senior leader of the CPI (M) was the main speaker who dealt in detail the contribution of Communists and others in the freedom struggle.  He said that the October revolution in Russia and establishment of Socialist state had given an impetus to the freedom struggle in India.  

Addressing the Seminar, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Orgnaising Committee criticized the Sangh Parivar for trying to twist the history of freedom movement and said that Sangh Parviar had no role in the country’s freedom struggle. He further said that those who have  tendered apology and came out of the Jail  are  being portrayed as  true patriots  while  hundreds of workers, peasants and others who laid down their lives  fighting the Britishers are being neglected or their roles are relegated to background.  

Earlier Shri D. Laxman Rao, State Secretariat Member of the Party made introductory remarks on the topic and welcomed the gathering.  He criticized the BJP for creating communal division in the country. A large number of party leaders, party workers and sympathizers of Port Blair attended the Seminar.
