Port Blair, Nov. 22: Vasectomy fortnight is being observed from 21st November to 4th December, 2022, by the Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration in association with Union Territory Health Mission, A&N Islands along with the rest of the country.

Various awareness activities will be conducted by all health institutions with the aim to enhance male participation in family planning, addressing myths involved with Vasectomy and promoting male methods of Sterilization i.e. Vasectomy and condom usage. Family Planning is a policy imperative of the GoI. Despite tremendous progress, women still majorly shoulder the responsibility of Family Planning. The slogan for this year- Ab Purush Nibhayenge Jimmedari, Parivaar Niyojan Apnakar Dikhayenge Apni Bhagidaari, (Now Men Will Fulfill Their Responsibility And Show Their Participation by Adopting Family Planning).

Meanwhile, as a part of the observance at State Level, a ‘Nukkad Natak’ was performed by Aditya Natya Academy yesterday in the premises of Mohanpura, Bus Terminus and Bhatu Basti Vegetable Market for mass awareness.
