Diglipur, Nov 25: A special meeting of the PRI members and officials of the line departments was held today in the conference hall of the Sitanagar Gram Panchayat. Welcoming the members, the Panchayat Pradhan Shri Biplab Monadal elaborated the role of the ‘Gram Panchayat facilitation team’ in the development of the Panchayat. He said that keeping Equitability in mind the proposals are made, ensuring to make the benefits reach all sections of the Panchayat without any discrimination.

In the formal discussion, many ward members raised the issue of supply of power at low voltage, saying that this has been causing difficulties to carry out works. Some members drew the attention to the dilapidated condition of many rural roads. They said the roads need immediate repair so that the lives of the villagers could be at ease to some extent. Many residents of the villagers expressed their inability in making the payment through the online billing system implemented by the Electricity department.

To the query of the villagers the Junior Engineer of APWD, said that the Sitanagar village doesn't have any water body resources, hence it is advisable to think about the overhead water tank alternative to cater to the needs of water. Some members demanded to construct a Public Toilet near the Health and wellness sub centre. Expressing concerns over the safety of the Girl students residing in the Zonal Girls Hostel at Sitanagar, one lady member demanded the services of professional Security Guards. She also asked the planning committee to put up the proposal for the renovation of the existing warden’s quarter to make it worth living. The officials of the Health department requested to develop a shed in front of the Health Sub Centre, as the patients have to stand in the queue in an open area during scorching hot weather and rain in the absence of the shed.

Replying to the questions related to the Education field, the Pradhan informed that he has already written letters to the authorities demanding to create a play field near boy’s hostel, and hopefully the concerned department would initiate steps. He said he has put his demands before the State Transport Services to provide school buses to the students coming to Government Model Senior Secondary School Sitanagar from far-off areas of Kalighat and Ram Nagar, and these facilities would be provided soon, he hoped.

The Pradhan assured the gathering that all the proposals made in the meeting would be included in the action plan for the year 2023-24 as well as in the draft plan for the next three years. Expressing gratitude toward the present Government officials, he hoped that together the panchayat would be able to redress the grievances of the common villagers and long pending demands would be fulfilled. The Up-Pradhan Shri Biren Sardar and the Panchayat Samity Member Shri Ram Krishna Bairagi also addressed the gathering.
