Port Blair, May 29: As part of the World Environment Day Celebration - Mass Mobilization of Mission LiFE (Life Style for Environment) an awareness campaign was organized by the Port Blair North Division of Andaman PWD at CAT Complex, Port Blair today. The event was launched by planting of saplings by Ms. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD) and Shri Arjun Sharma,IAS, Secretary (PWD) in the presence of CE & SE APWD, other staff & workers of the Department.

LiFE was introduced by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi as a mass movement for ‘Mindful and Deliberate Utilization, Instead of Mindless and Destructive Consumption’ to protect and preserve the environment.

The Commissioner (PWD) enlightened the staff about the purpose of the campaign and requested everybody to make it a habit to protect our environment by various means. People should make it as a daily habit by small contribution everyday to keep the city neat and clean, utilize the water in a proper way and minimize the use of carbon polluting vehicles. During the event, a vehicle containing seedlings was also flagged off by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD) and Secretary (PWD) to plant at various residential colonies maintained by APWD.

Earlier, Er. Anitha Kumari, Executive Engineer, PBND welcomed the gathering and briefed about the activities carried out by the Division of APWD.
