Having lost everything, victims plea for help; Pradhan requests Compensation

Sitanagar, July 28: A Fire Accident occurred last night at Labourers’ Barrack of Electricity Department at Sitanagar has gutted 8 houses. Having lost the hard earned house hold items, around 25 members of the victim families are presently in the state of uncertainty and going through immense trauma. However, the Pradhan of the Sita Nagar Panchayat, Shri Biplab Pradhan has come in front and has made arrangement for their food and basic requirement. The victims have taken shelters at their neighbourhoods, though the rooms are very congested to get accommodated.

The victims informed that the fire had broken out due to short circuit at the corner most house and within no time it had turned into massive volume and spread across the Barrack which had houses in adjacent one direction. Made of Bamboo and wood the fire did not give time to the residents to save any house hold items and everything turned into ashes.

One resident Shri Baleswar Dhanwar who is a bed ridden paralytic patient was evacuated by some brave youth, putting their own lives at risk amidst deadly fire flames. Appreciating the prompt action of the Fire Safety Services of ANP and Coast Guards, the eye witnesses said that on the call of the Pradhan the water tenders were rushed from Diglipur, Ariel Bay and Kalighat around 10.30 PM immediately noticing the flames and they did commendable job in restricting the fire to spread further.

Meanwhile the matter has been communicated to the Higher authorities of the Administration. The Pradhan Shri Biplab Pradhan has mailed letter to the Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Commissioner of the District, requesting them to release compensation at earliest. He has also requested to provide the victims; shelter in the five unoccupied vacant Government Quarters of State Transport Services, which are situated at the adjacent nearby area, till the permanent arrangement for their residence is made by the Department.  The Deputy Commissioner has been taking stock of the situation and is in touch of the Panchayat and local Administration, the Pradhan informed.
