Port Blair, July 31: The Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services successfully conducted a 3-day First Aid Firefighting and Disaster Management training program from 29th to 31st July 2024 at the Fire & Emergency Services Headquarter. Smt. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, IGP, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Smt. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Fire), and Shri Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Fire/PTS/PR/DM) & Shri Sandeep lamba, Dy.SP (Fire).

The welcome address was delivered by Smt. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Fire), who provided a brief overview of the program and appreciated the participants for attending in large numbers.

The Chief Guest interacted with the participants, commending their dedication and successful completion of the training. Chief Guest emphasized the importance of such training not only for personal safety but also for the safety of the community at large. The training included live demonstrations of fire extinguishers and their operations, providing hands-on experience to all participants. Special thanks were extended to the participants for their enthusiastic participation.

This session was organized in response to requests from many youths who aspire to be part of the fire safety community. A record number of 325 youths participated in the training session, marking the highest turnout ever witnessed by the Fire & Emergency Services. This shows how the young generation is increasingly aware of fire safety and its importance. They are the future of this nation, and their involvement ensures that the islands are in safe hands, encouraging more individuals to be part of fire safety awareness.

The participants were made aware of various activities of the Fire and Emergency Services, including the Fire Control Room, operational techniques of Water Tender, Rescue Tender, and Disaster Management equipment such as Search & Rescue tools, Chain Saws, Concrete Cutters, Air Lifting Bags, and Combi Tools.

During the felicitation ceremony, certificates were distributed to 325 participants, including civilians and students. The comprehensive training aimed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to fire emergencies and manage disasters.

At the end of the program, Shri Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Fire/PTS/PR/DM), delivered the vote of thanks.
