Port Blair, July 31: CPI (M) Central Committee has called upon all Party Units in the country to organise various programmes against the anti-people Annual Budget presented in the Parliament recently by Finance Minister. 

Accordingly, the CPI (M) Port Blair City Area Committee has staged a Mass Dharna in front of the Port Blair Municipal Council, Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair at 4 p.m. today (31.07.2024). Inaugurating the Mass Demonstration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee said that the Budget presented in the Lok Sabha will only impose further miseries to the common-man in the country. The Budget will further aggravate the hardship of the downtrodden while the rich will be further enriched through this Budget.  He said that the promises made by the BJP leaders including the Prime Minister in respect of various issues of these islands remain as hollow. He said that the CPI (M) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands will continue to oppose this anti-people Budget. He said that no provision has been made in the Budget for the proposed Chatham-Bambooflat Bridge, to end power cut, to repair the urban and rural roads, to create new jobs in the islands, etc. He informed that such programmes will be organised by the CPI (M) at various parts of the union territory in the coming weeks. 

Addressing the gathering, D. Laxman Rao, CPI (M) State Secretariat Member said that no provision has been made in the Budget to solve the burning issues of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.  P. Sathyapal, State Committee Member, NKP Nair, Port Blair City Area Committee Member and P. Banerjee, South Andaman Area Committee Member also addressed the gathering.   The Mass Demonstration was led by D. Hemlatha, Secretary, Port Blair City Area Committee, SP Kalairajan, State Committee Member and Area Committee Members BC Bhattacharjee and M. Boominathan.  

A large number of Party workers from Port Blair town participated in the   Mass Demonstration.
