Port Blair, Aug 1: On July 31, 2024, during an excise raid at Mohanpura Vegetable Market by the Police Station Crime & Economic Offence to curb the sale of illicit liquor, the police team, consisting of ASI Mohanmmed Rafique, HC/ K. Venkateshwar Rao, HC/Sanjay Kujur, PC/Thanagaraj, PC/K. Rajendran, PC/Srinivas Rao, LHG(R)/Saramma, conducted a search of the godown owned by M. Nadi Muthu S/o Late S. Muthu, owner of VKC Footwear, R/o Garacharma. They recovered 95 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) which were stored for sale at lucrative prices on dry days. The seized IMFL bottles were confiscated after observing all codal formalities as per the new criminal laws on the spot. A case under Section 32 Reg. III of 1876 has been registered at PS C&EO.

The A&N Police has urged citizens to continue their cooperation in reporting any suspicious activities or credible information pertaining to sale or possession of contrabands or any other illegal activity on the following telephone numbers- 100, 232586, 233307, 9933242204 & 9434280100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
