Port Blair, Aug 1: On August 1, 2024, the PS Crime and Economic Offence & Anti-Narcotics PS in collaboration with SKSSF, Stewartgunj unit, conducted a vital awareness session on the detrimental effects of drug abuse at Iqra Public School, Wimberly Gunj. This event gathered approximately 90-100 students, teachers, and parents, reflecting a strong community commitment to addressing substance abuse issues.
The interactive session was designed to educate and engage attendees on the severe impact of drug abuse on individuals and society. With a focus on prevention and the importance of support systems, the session featured expert insights and facilitated discussions, allowing participants to explore the various aspects of substance abuse, its consequences, and effective strategies for prevention.
Renowned psychiatrist Shri Mitesh Behari, Inspector Girish Kumar and SI Rahil Islam shared valuable information about the physical, emotional and social ramifications of drug abuse, emphasizing how such issues can disrupt lives and communities. Attendees were provided with practical tools and knowledge to recognize signs of substance abuse, understand its impacts, and implement preventative measures in their daily lives.
